The American Automobile Association (AAA) was founded on March 4, 1902, in Chicago, Illinois. In the early 1900s, poor road conditions wreaked havoc on cars. In an effort to improve these roads and get new ones created, a group of nine automobile clubs banded together to form the American Automobile Association.
