American folk artist Anna Mary Robertson Moses (popularly known as Grandma Moses) was born on September 7, 1860, in Greenwich, New York. Moses was the third of ten children born to a farmer. She attended a one-room schoolhouse, which is now the Bennington Museum in Vermont that hosts the largest collection of her art in the world.
