On August 10, 1821, Missouri became the 24th state in the Union. The territory had originally been acquired as part of the 1803 Louisiana Purchase which was later divided up. In 2021, the United States Postal Service celebrated the 200th anniversary of Missouri's statehood on a Forever stamp. Throughout history, Missouri has become well-known for a number of things.
