This is an 1863 Confederate States of America Loan Certificate in the amount of $10,000. Filled out per the Act of August 19, 1861, from Charles Manigault (a South Carolina plantation owner). Certificate measures 13 x 8 1/2" and pictures a vignette of a full-rigged sailing ship. It is dated March 11, 1863, and signed by A.T. Jonas, acting Register fo the Treasury of the Confederate States of America. It was printed by J.T. Paterson & Co.
